Biodiversity Fund 2026

Community Foundation Ireland’s Biodiversity Fund is open for applications from Monday 24th August till Friday 2nd October at 4pm.

With the support of the National Parks & Wildlife Service, this fund has been devised to enhance biodiversity in communities throughout the country by combining the expertise of qualified ecologists with the skills, experience, and enthusiasm of local community groups.

There are two strands to the Biodiversity Fund and applicants can apply to ONE only.

1. To develop a Community Biodiversity Action Plan (CBAP) for your area with an ecologist (Up to €10,000 available). Please find more information in the Criteria document here.
2. To implement recommendations contained in an existing Community Biodiversity Action Plan (Up to €12,000 available). Please find more information in our Criteria document here.

Examples of CBAPs can be found here on a website hosted by the National Biodiversity Data Centre. Please check to see if there is already a CBAP for your area.
