Those denied rights, facing inequality and isolation in our communities have lost a true ally with the passing of Sr Stanislaus Kennedy.
Community Foundation Ireland has been proud to partner with both frontline and advocacy services founded by Sr Stan which have transformed the lives of countless families and individuals. In addition we have been honoured to have the benefit of her insights and knowledge as a former long-standing Board member.
Denise Charlton, Chief Executive of the Community Foundation said:
As a visionary Sr Stan often took pioneering approaches to respond to both long-standing and emerging challenges facing people and communities across the country.
Her legacy is astounding. Growing a café for the homeless in Central Dublin into the national service provider and advocacy organisation which is Focus Ireland. Using the law to protect migrant rights with the Immigrant Council of Ireland as an Independent Law Centre. Pioneering social innovation to empower young people.
As a Foundation we are immensely proud to have partnered with Sr Stan and those she worked with. As a former Board member of the Foundation she also guided our work with a network of 5,000 voluntary, community and charitable partners.
We share the loss of all whose lives Sr Stan touched. We owe it to her memory to continue our philanthropic efforts towards our mission of Equality For All in Thriving Communities.”
