Successful Advisor Event May 17, 2011
17 May 2011 | In NewsThe Community Foundation for Ireland, with Philanthropy Ireland, and hosted by KPMG held a professional advisor philanthropy seminar on May 17th. Perhaps overshadowed by the arrival later in the day of the Queen, it is part of The Community Foundation’s ongoing programme to help advisors increase their awareness and understanding of philanthropy and their comfort in raising the topic with clients. There were twenty five attendees from a range of tax, accounting, wealth management and legal firms.
Seamus Mulconry from Philanthropy Ireland presented the findings of a recent survey of Irish people and their attitudes towards philanthropy. The research will be publicly available soon. Mike Gaffney from KPMG responded and also spoke about philanthropy from an advisor’s perspective. Niall O'Sullivan from The Community Foundation for Ireland outlined examples of families who have set up funds and the approach they have taken and more generally about the growth in philanthropy via The Community Foundation in its first decade.
