Irish Tax Institute Publishes New Book by Leading Tax Advisor Michael Gaffney

The Irish Tax Institute has published a new book by leading tax advisor and KPMG partner, Michael Gaffney. Entitled ‘Tax Advice for Irish Family Businesses’, this new book aims to demystify tax issues in a country that has over 100,000 family businesses. The book offers concise, straightforward advice, in a readable and engaging manner. Interestingly it is includes a final chapter ‘Giving it All Away’ to which The Community Foundation for Ireland contributed.

Speaking about the new book, Bernard Doherty, President of the Irish Tax Institute said “The Irish Tax Institute is delighted to be publishing this excellent book from Mike Gaffney, who is one of the country’s top tax advisors. Its ten chapters are organised around ten fundamental issues that arise for people involved in running or advising a family business. It covers a lot of ground in relatively few pages - from the basic issue of transferring a business to a company, right through shareholders’ agreements, to employees and passing on the business and to potentially giving some of one’s wealth away for charitable purposes.
