Foundation Supports Ethnic Minority Leaders

The New Communities Partnership was awarded an Impact Grant of over €26,000 last year for an innovative project to provide sessions on Leadership, Policy Development, participating in dialogues and policy discussion to emerging leaders from the immigrant community. It was originally planned that 20 people would take part, however, due to a large demand, 26 participants were eventually selected.

As part of the training, participants visited the European Commission house in Dublin, the houses of Oireachtas, City Hall in Dublin, Department of Foreign Affairs in Limerick, RTE Newsroom and Current Affairs Department & the County Hall in Limerick.

Many participants have now gone on to represent their communities and provide leadership by sitting on representative boards and committees at regional and national level. There were short inputs including questions and answers with TD’s, Senators, Councillors, and various programme directors of RTE and the representative of the European Commission in Ireland.
