Study finds Ireland is one of the most charitable countries
08 September 2010 | In NewsA study called the 'World Giving Index', by the UK's Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) has found that Ireland is one of the most charitable countries in the world. Ireland came joint third with Canada in the Charities Aid Foundation's World Giving Index, while the UK tied in eighth place with Sri Lanka. Australia and New Zealand topped the index. The “World Giving Index” is the first report of its kind looking at charitable behaviour across the world. Using data from Gallup’s Worldview World Poll CAF looked at three different types of charitable behaviour – giving money, giving time and helping a stranger and used the results to produce the “World Giving Index”.
