2009 Community Foundation Annual Report Launched

The Community Foundation for Ireland recently launched its 2009 annual report. 2009 was a terrific year for The Foundation with many landmarks during the year:

• Grant-making increased by over a third to €1.32million, representing 625 grants awarded.
• Six new donor funds were established including a major new family fund of over €900,000 which will be spent down.
• The new fund established with us by Our Ladies of Charity made grants worth €95,000 to groups working with marginalised women throughout Ireland.
• The Grassroots Grants Programme was 8 times over-subscribed and continued to make a real difference to smaller charities and community groups around Ireland.
• The Emergency Flood Recovery Fund was established in response to major flooding in Ireland.
• Philanthropist of the Year Award Winners were: Chantal McCabe (National), John Clarke (International), Cathal McCarthy (Local).
