Thematic Funds

A thematic fund is a fund which will focus on one area that has been identified as being in need of funding, either through a lack of public or private funding being readily available.

The Community Foundation for Ireland has identified a number of these areas and seeks to work with respected partners to establish innovative, independent and necessary permanent funds. Examples of areas where clear needs exist include the arts, sport, women, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) and the environment.

These funds will be permanent grant-making funds which will invest in target areas identified by donors, investors and stakeholders.

The Fund will operate under the wider umbrella of The Community Foundation for Ireland which will assist with the governance, investment and operational issues of the fund. We will work with a respected partner with particular expertise and credibility within their sector. Interest / earnings from the fund will be used to support organisations that successfully apply to the fund.

We can also manage the grants process in consultation with the partner organisation. Together we will establish a representative committee which will assess projects, make funding decisions and promote the fund to interested parties.

If you are interested in a thematic fund or if you would like further information please contact our Head of Fund Development, Niall O’ Sullivan on 01- 874 7354 or by email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
