Community Foundations – A Resource for Irish Charities and Communities

15 October 2009

This event is for anyone involved in charities at a senior executive or board level and will focus on how community foundations are a resource for local communities and charities in Ireland. Topics to be covered will include:

  • Examples of how and why community foundations act as neutral local convenors
  • Impact of small and strategic grants – case study (participant tbc)
  • Introduction to organisation endowment funds
  • Introduction to how Irish charities with overseas donors can provide tax relief to such donors
  • Launch of the 2009 Philanthropist of the Year awards.

Barbara McInnes President & CEO of The Community Foundation of Ottawa will be among the speakers. Established in 1987, the foundation makes annual grants of c$5million in 2009 from its endowment of c$100million.
