Bequests

A unique approach

When it comes to “Leaving a Legacy,” the unique approach taken by The Community Foundation for Ireland ensures that your client’s interests and wishes are fully complied with. Your client will also be assured that his or bequest will go to excellent causes and that the process of disbursement will be managed on a clear and professional basis. Unlike other organisations and charities, the Foundation has few thematic and no geographic limitations. So, whatever your client’s wishes, we can facilitate you.

Donors can elect to create a fund established for the cause(s) they value most dearly, setting out the manner in which they wish their charitable intentions to be fulfilled. The Foundation will fully honour their wishes in the years ahead, and donors can remain anonymous if they so wish.

Alternatively, a simpler, but equally effective approach is to bequest our Permanent Endowment Fund, which will help us ensure that whatever social challenges we face in the future, our Board and expert grant making committees will have the capacity to respond to those challenges. The decision is entirely yours.

Bequest Language

The suggested language below is provided to assist donors and their solicitors in making gifts to at The Community Foundation for Ireland. First choose what form of legacy you would like to make and which type of fund you would like to apply it to. Below are some wordings you could use in your will to include The Community Foundation for Ireland. Any of the following 3 options can be adapted to provide support to a specified fund type or to the general Community Fund.

For a Pecuniary Bequest

The Community Foundation Legacy Society

In 2007 The Community Foundation for Ireland founded The Community Foundation Legacy Society. As part of this program, The Legacy Society honours those who have demonstrated a commitment to their area by including the Community Foundation for Ireland in their will or estate plans.

Two wonderful things happen when your client informs The Foundation of their plans. First, it affords us the opportunity to recognise his/her generosity. Second, it encourages others to consider doing the same. When you/your client informs us of bequests or other planned gifts that benefit the community under the umbrella of the Community Foundation your client may choose to be listed in Foundation publications or he/she may prefer to remain anonymous. Members of the Legacy Society will also receive periodic updates about the activities of the Foundation and will be invited to an informal luncheon to thank them for taking an active role in securing the future of our community. Already our first supporter (who wishes to remain anonymous) has made a commitment and we look forward to many more following suit.
