Our Fees
In exchange for the services we provide, The Community Foundation charges an annual administrative fee against the balance of your fund. There are no set-up fees for the establishment of a fund however. Fees charged are typically lower than the costs of establishing and running a private trust or foundation. The fees enable The Community Foundation to offer clients full service philanthropy through consultation, grant-making expertise, monitoring and reporting services.
When grantmaking is relatively straightforward, costs can be kept to a minimum. When the fund involves research, consultation and proactive monitoring and evaluation, then costs are higher.
An annual fee is payable on endowment funds based on 1% of the fund value.
Flow-through fund fees typically start at 5%, but the exact rate can vary and is based on a review of each case.
Investment management fees for the endowment fund are separate from our administrative fee. The Community Foundation does not receive any fee revenue from the investment management of funds that it maintains.
A fund may on occasion be charged an additional fee should exceptional costs be incurred, but only with prior knowledge of the fund holder.
